Golden Valley Club organized in Beach facing local issues
A new club named the Golden Valley Club was organized in Beach last Monday with about thirty attendees from roughly fifty signups. Atty Denoyer warned of political rings and police malfeasance, calling for principled civic leadership and a social civic industrial purpose. Officers and a temporary executive board were chosen, with by laws to be drafted and nearly 100 members signed up. A Beach gun club team lost to Dickinson 214 to 208.

Young People Organize Club Euterpeans Social Dancing Group Formed in City
A new social dancing club named the Euterpeans was organized by local young men. Max Lewison was elected president, John McCarthy secretary, Theodore Hoverson treasurer, and Harry Smith the entertainment committee chair. The first dance occurred at Woodhull and Singer hall with invitations and programs issued. The next dance is set for August 7. Engineer W H Flanagan made a record run for the Northern Pacific pulling 10 berry cars from Glendive to Dickinson in 2 hours 10 minutes, with Ed Steinbrueck as conductor. The shortest Dickinson to Glendive passenger schedule is 3 hours 10 minutes, and the berry train traveled about 60 mph, stopping at Beach to oil the engine.

Another Beach Man Murdered in Tower Minn
Word reached this city that Lewis Ferney formerly of Alpha was murdered at Tower Minnesota. Details are scarce and will be provided next week. Ferney had been arrested on a trumped up charge and held to district court. the case was dismissed before he returned to Tower. CONTRACTING PLUMBING George Chrysler, the lowest bidder awarded the city contract for tapping and connecting private houses to the water works, will install plumbing in the First National Bank building and in O C Attletweed’s residence.

Former Beach Man Drowned in Red River Incident
Dr. O. F. Anderson a longtime veterinary surgeon formerly based at Beach and practicing near Christine drowned when his canoe capsized in the Red River at Fargo last week. Rescue efforts reached him too late and he died in the water according to the Fargo Courier News report.

Larger Parcel Post Rates Expanded for Twenty-Pound Mail
Twenty pound packages may be sent through the mails by parcel post after August 15. The limit now is eleven pounds. This applies only to the first and second zones, with old limits for distances outside these zones. The present rate in the first zone is five cents for the first pound and one cent for each additional pound and three cents for other cases.

Auto Trip Post State Fair Attendance Record

Real Estate Promoter Hance Murphy Visits Golden Valley
Hance Murphy a pioneer real estate promoter in Golden Valley attended district court this week as a witness in a land case. Now in Mildred Montana, he recalled trips from Sioux Falls to the valley and predicted land would reach 35 dollars an acre in a few years, with some sales noted as high as 60 dollars per acre for farm use. Taken to Hospital at Bismarck
George McClellan was moved from the local hospital to Bismarck this week after two operations at the local hospital July 7 and July 24. He remained in serious condition but was expected to recover with care in a larger hospital. He traveled with his local physician.
