Trustees and Teachers Fail to Settle 1983 Salary Talks
After five meetings between the Tiger Hills Teachers Association and Tiger Hills School Division 29 no 1983 collective agreement was reached. The teachers demand 7% on Jan 1 and 3.3% on Sept 1. the board offered 6% on Jan 1 and 4.3% on Dec 31. Arbitration forthcoming. 91% teaching positions exist with 1983 average salary projected to rise from 27,924 to about 30,800 after increases.

Glenboro CO-OP Tops in Manitoba
The Glenboro CO-OP annual meeting on May 11 in the Legion Hall drew about thirty members. President Roger Elliott spoke, with Mae Davidson presenting a 9 percent savings and a net $72 726.00. A 9 percent savings allocation to equity for 1983 was passed, and board size reduced from seven to five effective 1985. New directors Ellen Coates and Gwen Jefferies were elected for three years. Lorne Robson praised the coop as the province’s best financially, while a light reception followed. The 1985 executive: Brian Hill president, Glen Hamilton vice president, Linda McPhail secretary, directors Bob Jewsbury Daisy Steer Ellen Coates Gwen Jefferies.

Slight Rise in Taxes in R M of South Cypress 1983
Taxpayers in the Rural Municipality of South Cypress face modest 3.1 to 5.4 percent increases in 1983 property taxes depending on school division and rink area. The budget maintains the 6/5 guideline, with mill rate changes across Tiger Hills, Souris Valley, Beautiful Plains, and Brandon school divisions, plus area levies for Glenboro rink Cypress River hall and other services. Information packets and tax statements will be mailed in July with notices to examine the by law at the Glenboro municipal office.
