Spruce Woods Provincial Park Gets $12 Million Development Plan

A $12 million program led by Manitoba ministers approves ARDA funded development of Spruce Woods Provincial Park in south central Manitoba. The project, covering about 10,000 acres along the Assiniboine River, will create a major regional park with local labor during construction and ongoing maintenance. Community groups from Carberry and North Cypress spearheaded planning with four municipalities contributing to the effort.

The Electors roll for the Municipality of South Cypress for 1967 is deposited and open for inspection from June 6 to July 10 1967 at the Glenboro Manitoba office. Mixed Open Golf Tournament Two Ball Foursome

Glenboro Athletes Shine at Manitoba Provincial Meet

Seventeen Glenboro Collegiate pupils competed in the Manitoba Provincial Track and Field Meet at Sargent Park, Winnipeg. Larry Jamieson placed fourth in senior discus with 124 feet 4 inches, Doug Metcalf was fourth in senior triple jump at 39 feet 9 and a quarter inches, and Eric Rawlings finished second in his heat of the primary 120 yard hurdles and third in the finals.

Stockton News Reflects Weekend Visits from Across Canada

Infant Quinn Martin of Calgary visited for several days with Mr and Mrs Sidney Bailey and relatives in Stockton and Holland Manitoba. Carol Barr of Winnipeg spent the weekend at her parental home. Roberta Graham and Nettie Elias of Winnipeg visited J Graham’s residence. Olive McEwen of Moose Jaw stopped en route to Ontario to visit Mr and Mrs James Graham. Brock Perry and daughters from Estevan Saskatchewan visited R J Farough’s family. Several couples attended the International Square Dance Federation Jamboree in Winnipeg with travels by Mr and Mrs Rutherford and friends.

Holland Art Show Praises Range of Local Works and Awards

The Holland centennial art show featured oil works titled Stable Fire and prize entries from Holland Elementary School led by grades 8 to 1. Prizes, bearing the centennial symbol, were presented by Mrs. W. Ferris to students for poppier mache animals dioramas and leaf shaped pieces along with diamond willow crafted lamps and leather articles. The event highlighted cooperation among organizations, with a blossom show by the horticultural society and a lunch served by the ladies hall committee. The Holland United Church Junior Choir advanced to the Provincial Centennial Festival finals in Brendon with a score of 82.

Ruth Lewton of Hilton Manitoba a Glenboro Collegiate student is one of 20 delegates representing Manitoba Red Cross Youth at Rendezvous 67. The seminar at Carleton University Ottawa August 13 to 20 aims for international understanding and world peace with 300 Canadian delegates and 90 from 45 countries.

Glenboro Bees struggle in early SCTBL season opener

Glenboro Bees, new in the South Central Baseball League Eastern Division, lost all three opening games May 24 to 28. They were defeated by Somerset 5-4 and Pilot Mound 13-1, and Treherne 9-7 after Treherne could not field a team.
