The Stockton hockey boys twenty five players with manager Ken Northey and coach Laurie Johnson and their parents held a hockey roundup on Friday evening June 9.
Glenboro Kiwanis members host a weekend peanut sale with salted and roasted nuts and peanut brittle. Proceeds support Beach and Playground facilities and Red Cross swimming instruction. A banquet by United Church Women precedes remarks by local hockey figures and a Canada Russia film to close the evening.
A Glenboro two ball four some tournament concluded Sunday with winners across flights. Championship flight saw Murray and June Clark take first, Aa and Myrna Greer second. First Flight winners Cliff and Vickie Williams with Jack and Wilma Gowanlock second. Second Flight victors Dennis and Sharon Forest led Tig Davidson and Elvina Jamieson in Glenboro. Third Flight champions George and Barb Wallis followed by Glen and Agnes Witherspoon in Glenboro.

The Glenzoro elementary school field day on May 26 with rain showers saw winners across groups A to F. Top scorers included Terry Oliphant and Kelvin Dowd in group A, with many students earning high points. Junior trophies went to Robin Carels and Allen Lew, while senior girls’ trophy went to Tiannys Christie.
A Centennial Committee meeting is set for Thursday June 15 at 8 30 p m at Glenboro Rink. Representatives from all organizations are welcome to attend to finalize plans for June 25 when the Centennial Caravan arrives in Glenboro.
STOKTON NEWS announces the birth of Sherri-Lee Helen to Stockon News and Rita Naismith. Born Friday June 9 in Baldur Hospital. Congratulations extend to the family. Also noted are graduation events at the University of Manitoba where Gerry Slusar earned the Gold Medal in Engineering. Weekend visitors include Carl Kiefhaber Regina and relatives from Brandon Winnipeg Shilo and Isabella.
Oak River downed Glenboro 5-3 as Doyle Bailey earned the win with nine strikeouts and six hits allowed. Glensboro homered twice by Don Barr and Harry Lalonde, while Oak River hitters Bridgeman Ramay and Ramsay led with three and two hits respectively.
In Elgin a large crowd watched Glenboro win 5-3 behind Harry Lalonde who allowed six hits and struck out five. Lawrence Reed took the loss with eight strikeouts as Glenboro collected three Don Barr hits and two apiece from Tvan Donald including a homer. Cubs’ Murray Thomas and Reed had two hits each.
The June 11 standings in the South Central Baseball League reflect current team records, with leaders and tailing clubs showing shifts in win totals and game gaps as teams approach midseason mark.
Mr. Charles Brown of St. John's Ambulance led a 244 hour first aid display and lecture at Glenboro elementary on Thursday. He demonstrated stings bandages and oral artificial respiration on students as models and explained Holger-Neilson methods. He suggested a local first aid course could run if twenty residents showed interest.
Somerset remains atop the standings with 4 wins and 1 loss as Pilot Mound 3-2, Holland and Treherne 2-2, Notre Dame 2-3, and Glenboro 1-5. Results include Somerset’s 17 6 win over Notre Dame and Glenboro’s 10 3 loss to Treherne, with Treherne 11 over Notre Dame and other scores listed.
