Glenboro Athletes Excel at Treherne Track Meet

Glenboro Collegiate sent about 60 athletes to Treherne on May 19. Ellen Otte and Bill Shepherd earned perfect scores, with others like Shirley Dowd Morley Rollins Glen Moore Doug Metcalf and John Bjornson receiving silver crests for multiple wins.

Glenboro Red Cross Campaign Tops 1285 In Local Gifts

The Glenboro Red Cross group received a letter of thanks from the Red Cross Society of Manitoba for a successful effort. Volunteers and local donors, businesses, and organizations helped raise 1285, five dollars more than last year, and the local executive thanks all who contributed.

Glenboro Collegiate shines at Zone 6 track meet

Twenty six Glenboro Collegiate athletes competed at the Zone 6 meet in Manitou on May 27. Several students won multiple events including Shirley Dowd first in primary 60 and 100 yard dashes and Doug Metcalf in senior triple and broad jumps.

Division Board Meeting Actions Approvals May 23 Glenboro

Glenboro Tiger Hills divisional trustees met May 23 and approved paying St Leon Co for six months rent for temporary classrooms. They accepted the resignation of Lois McKitrick from Pilot Mound high staff and authorized signing contracts for Lucien Loh Geoffrey Stone and Daniel Shtykalo. Salaries set 400 below the training class. Several accounts approved and next meeting set for June 13 at 7 30 p m.

A film titled My Garden Japan debuts at Expo 67 in Montreal's United Nations Pavilion. It portrays hidden temples and private gardens of Japan through the voice of a Japanese grandfather and features notable actors with Teru Shimada narrating the English version.

Glenboro Canucks Rally To Take Early Wins In Two Games

Glenboro Canucks defeat Treesbank Tigers 16 to 5 on May 2 with Walter Hilhorst Charles Hilhorst and Ivan Donald each collecting three hits. Greg Arnson homered as Glenboro builds a 16 run total on 14 hits while committing one error. Treesbank adds two hits from Stan Yawney and W Cullen with seven errors. Charles Hilhorst earns the win.

Festival group names officers for 1968

The Tiger Hills Music and Drama Festival at Baldur elected officers for 1968. Reports on 1967 showed general success but financial strain. Committees for 1968 selections were named, and the festival will be hosted in Holland with the Ideal Rebekah lodge as sponsor.

Holland Art Exhibit and Flower Show Featured at Memorial Hall

Claudia Lanouette will present an art exhibit at Holland Memorial Hall on Saturday June 3 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 pm. The display includes twenty five pictures a Manitoban mural diamond willow crafts and more with a Holland horticultural society spring flower show and prizes for coffee table and sideboard arrangements. Elementary art winners will be shown and Ideal Rebekah lodge awards presented at 8 pm with land served by the ladies hall committee.
