On Wednesday afternoon August 3 seven eastbound CP freight cars derailed within a mile west of Cypress River due to extreme heat. One car carried steel rails others held grain with two grain cars spilling. A grass fire started and about forty workers arrived. by Friday the line was repaired and traffic resumed as CP upgrades continue through the Holland area.
Capi Direct paced the mile in 2 03 3 at Glenboro to break the circuit record set in Carman. Meadow Cache equaled the Glenboro mark in race seven, while heat and large purses accompanied a weekend crowd near 65 000 dollars. Bets and trophies highlighted Saturday and Sundays harness program with notable drivers and owners across Manitoba events.
