Canucks Drop Semi Finals in Gladstone Tournament
Glenboro Canucks traveled to Gladstone for the Happyrock fall tournament and posted two wins and a loss before losing 9-2 to the Neepawa Farmers in the semi final. Pitcher Paul Thorvaldson earned the first game win and Kelly Oleson took the loss in the Neepawa game. Oleson led the offense with six hits and eight at bats, backed by Barr, Wayne Davidson, Blaionde, Glen Barr, Lambkin, Thorvaldson, Wooldridge, Ford, and Olson. Next up is an exhibition at Carberry against the Bees followed by a Kaleida tournament to end the season.

Establishment Grants For Three Rural Libraries
Seven public library establishment grants totaling 35000 are awarded to assist Lac du Bonnet Regional Library Parkland Regional Library and Western Manitoba Regional Library. Lac du Bonnet receives 5000 for Alexander region while Parkland gets 25000 for Clanwilliam Dauphin Hamiota and Erickson and Hamiota. Western Manitoba receives 5000 for South Cypress.

Golden Weddings Mark Two Local Couples
Mr and Mrs Norris Cook of Hilton Manitoba celebrated their 50th anniversary with a Come and Go Tea and supper in Hilton Community Hall. They wed November 14 1933 in Biggar Saskatchewan. The Cooks moved from Wawanesa to Hilton in 1943 and raised a daughter Una. Joe and Anna Sarzynski of Glenboro also marked their 50th on August 14 1983 with an Open House in the C E Building. The couple wed November 7 1933 in St Boniface. They later lived in Swan Lake Cypress River and Glenboro and have four daughters and one son and thirteen grandchildren. About 300 guests attended.
