Local Lawmen Complete Officer Training in Cleburne
City Marshal Frank Laramore and Deputy Sheriff A P Johnson Jr received certificates after completing an officer training school in Cleburne last week. Trailer Jamboree Races On Labor Day Program
Oakdale Park hosts a Labor Day weekend jamboree supported by the Chamber of Commerce with a campers jamboree Friday including a sandwich supper, watermelon events, an art show, and visits to Dinosaur Valley State Park. Saturday features a barbecue, youth talent show, and Miss Oakdale Park beauty contest. Sunday offers horse and mule races at Dino saur Downs with multiple trophy races and jackpot events, plus church services and a pot luck. Monday closes with a 10 a.m. pool opening and family fare before the snack bar ends at 8 p.m.

Funeral service for Walter A. Sandlin 82 of Dallas was held at Restland Memorial Chapel with burial in Restland Memorial Park. He died Saturday and was a Baylor graduate who held high ranking banking posts including chief national bank examiner of the 11th Federal Reserve District and later vice president of Republic National Bank. Survivors include his wife a son and a daughter.
