Three Wrecks Saturday Night Near Glen Rose

Saturday night three wrecks occurred near Glen Rose on Walnut Springs and Granbury highways. Weldon Sullivan of Granbury struck a wandering cow at 9:30 p m causing minor damage to his car and injuring the cow. Five minutes later Jerry Werden Crum and Jack Ggunty of Perrin hit the same cow. Crum s Plymouth 1949 was badly damaged and the cow was killed. At 1 15 a m Sunday Charles Elmer Gilbreath 16 of Walnut Springs fell asleep at the wheel of a 1955 Chevrolet hitting Squaw Creek Bridge. he was hospitalized for head and face cuts and a back injury.

Man Fined Five Dollars for Forgery Case

W T Ivy 44 of Waco was fined five dollars plus costs in County Court after forging another’s identity in a telephone scam against First National Bank. He demanded wires totaling 95 dollars over three days, was spotted when the real account holder was contacted, and later jailed before paying back 85 dollars.

Somervell Cancer Drive Organized by County Chairman

Tom Voss, chair of the Somervell County Cancer Drive, announced a fundraising campaign starting Tuesday May 27. Moody sweeps district volley ball title in Glen Rose event

Moody won the Grade School Division by defeating Glen Rose boys and girls teams in close games at the Glen Rose Gym. In high school play McGregor girls edged Clifton and Clifton boys beat Glen Rose, with Clifton and McGregor advancing over Glen Rose and Moody in preliminaries.

Church of Christ buys community center property

Three bids were received on the county advertised property on May 13. F. M. Echols offered 700 dollars, W. E. Bates 200 dollars, and the Glen Rose Church of Christ 1010.95 dollars, the highest bid. The property was part of land given to the county in 1947 by Mrs. Gus Snyder and her late husband Dr. Gus A Snyder.

Judy Lynn Parvin Dies at 10 Days in San Angelo

Judy Lynn Parvin died in a San Angelo hospital on May 17 1958 at ten days old. Graveside services were held May 19 at Glen Rose Cemetery with Rev J W English officiating and Maud Gibbs singing In The Garden. Survived by parents Mae Sue and Loyd Parvin three sisters a brother and maternal grandparents Mr and Mrs Otis Lewis of Glen Rose.
