Livestock Show Auction Raises Four Thousand Three Hundred Fifty Eight
The FFA and 4 H clubs earned four thousand three hundred fifty eight dollars and twelve cents from last Saturday's sale. Auctioneers were M G Mc Conal with committee Kelley Lewellen and Earl Royal. Top prices included John Pruitt at 47 cents per pound for a 570 lb steer, Cera Mae Russell at 50 cents for a lamb, and Roy Noack at 81.25 dollars for a fat barrow. Beef, sheep and swine totals were 3860.26, 225.61 and 272.25 respectively with numerous buyers listed.

Mr. D. Miles 66 died suddenly on March 10. He lived in Cleburne and was a parts salesman. Services were held March 12 at Dillon Funeral Chapel with Dr. Howard Scott officiating. The Sixth Annual Somervell County Quarter Horse Show drew 218 entries. Village Creek Ranch of Fort Worth won gelding and top overall honors, Ina Tay owned by Earl Foreman of Denton won champion mare, and Jim Harlan of Johnson Quarter Horse Ranch took the stallion title.

The Glen Rose Schools face a $4 500 to $5 000 annual funding gap for transportation. State rules only fund riders living more than two miles from school, yet 364 students are transported while 226 live farther than the limit. City residents within Glen Rose limits cannot qualify. Overcrowded buses and hazards on Highway 67 and Palaxy on Highway 144 persist as the district cannot afford new buses. The district remains unable to fund full service for all in need.
