Georges Creek HDC Meeting Recalls Valentines and Poems

The Georges Creek Home Demonstration Club met at Mrs. Hallie Russell’s home on February 12 with 11 members. Members recited the prayer and pledge, two poems were read, a council report given, and a Texas gardening program discussed. The group exchanged valentines and drew for the white elephant. The next meeting will be at Mrs. Alpha Threadgill’s home with a program on making house shoes.

Revival announced at Pentecostal Church in Glade Water

The Pentecostal Church will hold a revival beginning March 6 with the Young Evangelistic Trio from Glade Water Texas preaching and singing. Services start each evening at 7 15 and the pastor Rev Hubert McFarlin invites everyone to attend.

Brother of R. C. Leach Buried in Creson

John C. Leach brother of R. C. Leach died in Denver Colorado last Sunday. Funeral services were held at Crozier-Pearson Funeral Home in Cleburne Thursday at 10 a m. Interment followed in Cres Cemetery where his parents are buried. Survivors include several brothers and sisters.

Soil Conservation Service surveys of recent fires in the Bosque District show perennial grasses survive areas with litter buildup but die where cedar stands were burned. Grazing after fire depletes root reserves and slows recovery. farmers plan to defer grazing and reseed to restore vegetation. Local seed sources and SCS help are available for determining reseeding needs and rates.
