Bone Asks Rehearing By Appeals Court

Former Somervell County Sheriff Paul Bone seeks a rehearing in the Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin. Attorney Al Clyde cites a Supreme Court ruling overturning a Billie Sol Estes conviction due to televised trial portions, arguing TV coverage unduly emphasized Bone and biased jurors. The Bosque County trial convicted him of misappropriating public funds and carried a 10 year sentence. appeals court recently upheld.

Funeral for Mrs. J B Goldsmith Held in Glen Rose

Funeral services for 97 year old Mrs. J B Goldsmith were held at 1 30 p m Wednesday in Glen Rose Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Squaw Creek Cemetery She died Monday in College Station where she lived with her daughter Mrs Ed Parnell She formerly resided in Glen Rose Surviving are three sons J R Goldsmith Florida M B Goldsmith Godley and G C Goldsmith Cle burne and two daughters Mrs O B Shook Glen Rose and Mrs Parnell Also visiting were Mr and Mrs Thomas Phipps and two sons of Fort Worth including Mrs Phipps a Fort Worth artist who called on local art club member Mrs John D Wilson

Faulkner Funeral Held at Rainbow Baptist Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Verta Faulkner of Baytown will be at Rainbow Baptist Church on Saturday June 19. She died June 15 in a Dayton nursing home. Born Verta Shannon September 19 1878 in Somerville County she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Faulkner. Survived by one brother Wiley Shannon daughter-in-law Cora Brady Dayton two grandchildren six great grandchildren and aunt of Mrs. O B Brown and L D Faulkner of Nemo.

San Antonio Couple Announces Baby Son

Mr and Mrs Jimmy Alexander of San Antonio announce the birth of a baby boy born June 3 in a local hospital. The son weighed eight pounds nine and a half ounces and has been named David Adams. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Bryan Alexander of Fort Worth and Mr and Mrs Bob Russell of Walnut Springs.

Parker-Davis House Receives Texas Historic Marker

The Parker-Davis House in Glen Rose is awarded a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark medallion and interpretive plaque sponsored by Mrs. William C. Davis Jr. Built in 1890 from nearby limestone, the home was restored in 1964 and features a 14 inch medallion with a 14 by 9 inch plaque. The ceremony is set for Sunday June 27 at 2 p.m.

Commissioners Order Repairs For Courthouse

The Somervell County Commissioners voted to install doors on the courthouse and rest rooms to lock at night. They discussed redistricting and apportionment issues, tabling several proposals and delaying hiring in the sheriff and tax assessor offices. Local residents J. O. Somervell County Shifts to 11th Texas District

Somervell County moves from the Sixth to the 11th Congressional District in Texas under a state redistricting plan. The 11th District will include Parker Hood Somervell Bosque Limestone McLennan Coryell Bell Milam Robertson and Falls counties with W R Bob Poage of Waco as Representative. The change follows the Legislature’s adjournment.

Mrs Holden Visits Daughter in Massachusetts

Mrs. Dawson Holden flew from Love Field Dallas to Bradley Field Hartford where she was greeted by her daughter and family for a two week visit at their West Over AFB Mass home. She called her husband Sunday afternoon to report arrival time.

Strawn Recovers Loot From Local Burglaries

Sheriff Strawn recovered most items stolen from the Capitol Aggregates Silica Sand Plant in two burglaries. The haul included a half inch drill, transit tripod, 50 cap detonator, and a metal hat bearing the land firm insignia. A 37 year old ex convict is jailed in Johnson County pending charges. Meantime Mrs. Pruitt and Mrs. Bone remained in Marks English Hospital with family visiting. Investigation continues.
