Ervin Ray Fulton of Clifton was arrested by Sheriff Frank Laramore at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday for driving around the courthouse square in a loud and reckless manner. He posted a $27.50 fine and was released. Mr. and Mrs. Truman Hamill visited from Antoine, Arkansas, with Hale Riddle, who is hospitalized, and Mr. Riddle and Mr. B. W. ihn stayed through Saturday.
School officials released the final six weeks honor rolls for elementary and high school and announced graduation awards. Elementary honorees include listed students and additional names to be detailed in the district release.
Gary K Westmoreland of Jacksboro a native of Glen Rose has been promoted to range specialist with the US Soil Conservation Service in Temple He previously served as district conservationist for SCS in Jacksboro He will lead range conservation staff for about one third of the state and works alongside SCS and soil and water conservation district leaders The Glen Rose Texas A M graduate married with four children will reside in Temple. He is the son of O Z Lemens of Fort Worth.
Somervell County vegetable gardens entered in the FFA garden growing contest were judged Friday by Tom E. Denman of Stephenville. Winners included Doyle Aston first, L. M. Allen Rainbow second, Robert Mack third, Mrs. Pearl Hawkins fourth, Bill Lemens fifth, C. B. Thompson sixth, Sam McFall seventh. Cash prizes totaling $50 and seed money for a 15 acre FFA Community Garden were funded by Community Public Service Co., Texas Electric Service Co., Erath Electric Cooperative and Johnson County Electric Co-op.

Free Somervell County Barbecue planned for Saturday at 11 a.m. at the rodeo grounds east on Highway 67. Volunteers will barbecue two beeves donated by Floyd Reynolds and the Glen Rose Rodeo Association with 100 pounds of pinto beans from Joe Huffman. Potatoes donated by Osborn's Grocery Station. volunteers urged to join Friday night and help. Community groups and local businesses contributed funds, ice, plates, fire wood, and other items. A family friendly event promises finger licking good food and fellowship.
Red Cross swimming and lifesaving lessons announced for June 18 28 at Oakdale Park have been moved to July 8 19. Pete May park manager says registration is July 8 with classes starting July 9. Lessons are free with a $6.00 per-use charge for facilities. A drive to fund instructors is underway and contributions may be sent to Mrs. J. M. McCroskey or the First National Bank.
Loyd Donnell Parvin a former Glen Rose resident died suddenly at his Mingus home. Born June 24 1915 he was married to Wilma Reeves. Surviving are his wife two daughters two sons six grandchildren and a brother. Funeral services were 2:30 p m Friday at Reynolds Funeral Chapel with burial at White Church Cemetery.
Moisture recorded for National Weather Service by observer Robert Mack shows trace Tuesday .65 inch Friday and .40 inch Sunday. Month total 1.71 inches and year to date 8.24 inches. Seven day temps ranged from 53 to 98 degrees.
The Peewee baseball teams for boys ages 6 7 and 8 will play each Friday afternoon at the diamond here. Game time is set for 6 p.m according to Arthur Vineyard.
The Somervell County 4-H Livestock Club hosted a recognition family picnic at the Brazos River camp of Melvin Gambrell in Rainbow with 41 members and guests. Pins and exhibition buttons were awarded for judging teams and livestock shows. Cecil Wood received a meritorious service plaque from adult leader Charles Talley.
The United Pentecostal Church and Pastor H. P. Long thank the Reporter for the response to the March for Missions drive. The church surpassed its $1,000 goal.
Rev. Bill Schibler of First Baptist Church announced this week that the annual summer Vacation Bible School will be held June 17 through 22. The program will include classes for all ages and a Teen Time session each night for junior high and high school youth. All area children and teenagers are invited.
Following a successful Oakdale Park festival that drew 4000 to 5000 attendees Whimp and Pete May have signed contracts for the Fourth Annual Bluegrass Festival next May. Headlining will be Jim and Jessie and the Virginia Boys with The Lewis Family Arbuckle Mountain Boys Panhandle Country Boys Trinity Bluegrass Shady Grove Ramblers The Bluegrass Kinfolks and The Blue Mountain Boys among others.

John S. Hillary jailed in Fort Worth after his bondsman revoked bond. He is charged as one of several men suspected of burglarizing the farm home of Dr. C. L. Webster.

A car driven by Dan Pettit of this city left Harmon's Short Stop and crashed into a gasoline pump at Osborn's Station & Grocery at 11 15 p m Monday. Highway Patrolman Bob Brock reported no citation issued since the incident occurred on private property.
