Billy E Ward son of Mr and Mrs J E Ward graduated from Baylor University College of Dentistry in Dallas on June 4 as part of 70 Doctor of Dental Surgery recipients. Dr J Ben Robinson WVU spoke the commencement address at Gaston Avenue Baptist Church. Ward is a Junior American Dental Association member and Delta Sigma Delta. He received Navy commission Monday night and will report for active duty in July. Mr and Mrs Ward attended the ceremonies.

Wind destroys landmark at courthouse in 60 76 mph storm
Wind of 60 to 76 mph toppled the landmark Thursday afternoon as a pink black cloud swept by. Glen Roselles sheltered in cellars while 19 people crowded one cellar and 21 another. Rain totaled 1 05 inches and May rainfall reached 4 58 inches. The fallen tree caused little damage and was removed Friday morning revealing a water pipe embedded in the trunk. A replacement tree will be planted soon.

Farmers May Plant Cotton Again
County Agent Doyle Cooper reports farmers may replant cotton after a severe wind and rain event. A letter from cooperating farmers to the Commissioner of Agriculture secured a short extension allowing planting within two to three days unless adverse weather returns.

Last Friday eight gilts were given to Somervell County 4-H Club boys and girls in a Sears Roebuck Co sponsored program carried out by county agents.
