Youth Rodeo Set Saturday at Glen Rose Dinosaur Arena

Lloyd Locke announced plans for a Pee Wee and Junior Rodeo sponsored by the Glen Rose Roping Club at Dinosaur Arena on Saturday night starting at 8.00. Pee Wee contestants in grades 1-5 will race and ride for a $1 entry each event. Junior riders in grades 6-9 will compete in steer and pony events with a $2 entry per event. Proceeds support arena improvements.

Sorority Book Fair Aims To Benefit Local Library

Alpha Lambda Eta Sorority hosts a book fair at the courthouse square bandstand from Thursday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Paperbacks of all kinds will be sold with proceeds donated to Glen Rose Somervell County Library. Call Ruth West Carlann Miller or Lovella Williams to donate books. Roseanne Gann visited Aledo last week and attended Six Flags Over Texas and an Arlington equestrian show.

Area Accidents Reported In This Area

State Trooper Roger Hill investigated four traffic accidents in the area this past week. Thursday at 11 40 near Corner Drug Store a collision between Betty Thompson and Oscar E Sally Jr left minor Oldsmobile and pickup bumper damage with Thompson cited for improper start. Monday at 5 45 at Highway 67 FM 201 an accident between Ricardo Rubio and James K Dennis caused slight Mercury damage with Rubio cited for failure to yield. Saturday at 4 45 on a county graveled road two vehicle crash damaged Front fenders with no citations. Less than an hour later on the same road a second two vehicle crash occurred near Hammond Barbecue involving Jack Morton and L B Vanderburg.

Robert Wagner Show Opens at Vo-Ag Building

The Robert Wagner Show begins nightly at 6 00 in the Vo Ag Building on Highway 67 under sponsorship of the Glen Rose Future Farmer Chapter. It runs daily through Saturday with all proceeds funding FFA projects.

Mattie Echols Buried Friday

Miss Mattie Echols 88 died in a local hospital July 22 after a long illness. She lived near Glen Rose most of her life and operated Echols House a boarding house until 1973. Funeral 4 p m Friday at First United Methodist Church with burial at Squaw Creek Cemetery.

Pair Fined for Killing Deer in County Court

Billy Owain Ward and Teddie Dee Whitt from this city were stopped by State Troopers for a traffic violation south of town. Police found a dead deer in their vehicle and charged them with possession of a deer out of season. They pleaded guilty and paid $151.80 fines each.
