Alex Tandy of Weatherford says he will subpoena Western Union records to verify if a telegram reached the Palo Pinto Courthouse before ballots were burned in the 22nd State Senate District race. He lost to Tom Creighton in Mineral Wells. Palo Pinto burned ballots on July 2 after a court halted destruction.

Fort Worth native Larry Pillers is appointed assistant coach and biology instructor at Glen Rose High School after a called Board of Trustees meeting last Thursday. Pillers, a Texas Wesleyan College spring graduate, will join the local faculty amid school staffing changes.

Carrie Cousins Dies in Georgetown at 92
Carrie Cousins 92, longtime Somervell County resident, died Sunday in a Georgetown hospital after a two week illness. She was born February 6, 1884 in Coryell County, survived by two sons, three daughters, siblings, nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Funeral services were held Monday at 4 p.m. in Boyd Reynolds Funeral Chapel with burial at White Church Cemetery.

Dallas Lad Drowns At State Park
Wesley Howard Gardner nine year old son of Mr and Mrs Larry G Gardner of Dallas drowned shortly before noon Wednesday of last week when he fell in the Blue Hole on the Paluxy River in Dinosaur Valley State Park. His body was recovered by local firemen and brought to Boyd Reynolds Funeral Home then picked up by a Dallas firm. He was visiting with his mother two brothers a woman friend and her daughter and had arrived 30 minutes before the accident. Funeral services and burial were in Laurel Land Dallas on Friday.

Principal Resigns After Several Years at Local School
Laurie Moseley III, an elementary school teacher and principal here for years, resigned his post in the past week per a Tuesday statement from superintendent Charles W. Gibbs. Moseley was unavailable for comment as this edition went to press and a replacement had not been named. Mrs. Oleta Mimms visited relatives in Dallas the first of the week.
