Parker Named County Auditor for Somervell County
Cecil Parker, longtime local figure and former temporary sheriff and tax assessor, was named County Auditor by District Judge Penn J. Jackson effective July 1. The appointment follows action by the County Commissioners Court and aims to increase regular internal scrutiny with daily collection reports and monthly financial statements. Glen Rose hosts a three day Fourth of July celebration July 3 to 5 with a parade, rodeo, art displays, pony rides, pancake breakfast, fiddlers contest and a gospel singing session. Activities include a 2 PM parade led by M G McConal and Bill Cowan, Civil War themed tie ins, and a Junior Chamber funded rodeo arena with calf riding and roping events. The Glen Rose Future Farmers of America Chapter will meet in the agriculture room at the school Tuesday evening July 7 at 7 45. Plans will be made for members attending the 36th annual State FFA convention in San Antonio July 15 to 17.

Five Cleburne boys, all minors, were picked up by local officers Sunday afternoon about four miles from Glen Rose and fined 25.50 each in Justice Court for possession of liquor. Mrs Mae Lowery left Monday for Austin to be with a brother who underwent surgery.
