House Fire Destroys Glen Rose Residence on Stephenville Highway
Tuesday night around 8:00 Glen Rose firefighters answered an alarm at the Bob Stewart home seven miles west of Glen Rose on the Stephenville Highway. No one was home, bystanders found the fire too late to save anything, and the house and its contents were completely destroyed.

Grand Jury Indicts Ten in Somervell County
Somervell County Grand Jury met for one day on January 11 and returned ten indictments. Six target Johnny Leo Hill and Robbie Lester Stanley for breaking jail auto theft and burglary. Jose Zamango faces murder charges in the knife slaying of Joe Soto. Leroy Moore and Kenneth Wayne Evans indicted on forged instrument counts. All defendants are in custody with eleven jurors named.

The newly completed brick home of L Dene Stephens family opened Sunday afternoon for community visitors. The house on a hill in Ward Branch area features three bedrooms two baths a living room dining room kitchen with breakfast space and a study. Mr and Mrs Stephens moved from New Mexico last year and have three children attending Glen Rose Schools.

Dick Privitt, former Somer vell County resident and brother of Horace Privitt, remains unconscious at Henrietta Hospital after injuries from a wreck late New Year's Eve. Relatives Mrs Horace Privitt Mrs Larry Davis Mrs Billy Buzan and Mrs Nora Gartrell visited in Henrietta last week.

King Norton Dies in Floodwater Crossing Whitney
Funeral services were held for King Norton 38 of Morgan after he drowned when swept from his horse while crossing Steel Creek near Whitney. His body was recovered Sunday and burial took place in Morgan Cemetery. Norton worked as a ranch employee.

Sheriff Bone Aids In Capture Of Escaped Convict
Somervell County Sheriff Paul Bone and Erath County officers with Texas Ranger George Roach tracked Leroy Moore for days across Erath and Somervell Counties ending in Mineral Wells. Moore, 26, was sentenced in Granite Oklahoma last January for forgery and escaped from prison in May. He and his brother in law Allen Lambeth stole three cars in Hico Granbury and Marysville California. Moore was captured Sunday evening and jailed in Erath County.

Glyndon Hague becomes District Attorney in Cleburne, replacing Ferguson, while Penn Jackson, appointed by the Governor, takes District Judge post and James opens general practice in the Cleburne National Building.
