Sheriff Paul Bone and Hood and Johnson County officers solved December burglaries. Five youths jailed in Cleburne and one 17 year old indicted by Somervell Grand Jury. Five more youths touring five counties to identify stolen items from Wiggins Grocery and Bill Mullen Service Station. Loot included oil batteries drills cigarettes socks flashlights candy gum. Tour covered Rio Vista Tolar Iredell Hico Glen Rose. Grand jury urged jail improvements and possible constable appointment.

The Administrator of Veterans Affairs says regular annual dividends will be paid in 1962 to National Service Life Insurance and United States Government Insurance policyholders. Dividends total about 241 million dollars and are paid on policy anniversaries in 1962 except for cash surrenders and deaths. Policyholders should inform VA of current addresses.

Services for Marshall M. Bunt 80 of Rainbow community were held December 31 at Rainbow Baptist Church with burial at Squaw Creek Cemetery. Bunt born July 24 1881 in Somervell County lived in Rainbow all his life. he was a farmer and former Rainbow precinct commissioner. He died December 30 1961. He is survived by his wife three sons two daughters a sister eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Pallbearers were J C West Wayne Smith D J Shadelford E D Barnett W W Early and Earl Flanary. Interment under Glen Rose Funeral Home. Also funeral details for James E Lowery 55 rancher and turkey breeder included burial at Parkdale Cemetery Granbury. He worked at North American Aviation Grand Prairie 1941 45 later ranching in Hood County. Survived by wife two brothers and was active in Turkey Breeders Association. He died after two month illness in Granbury.

Mrs. Francis Grimes, acting clerk of local draft board No 76, reports 28 men from Johnson Hood and Somerville counties were inducted in 1961 and 176 underwent pre induction medical exams. The board held five meetings and classified 1394 regular registrants and 288 standby reservists. There were 360 new registrants reaching 18 during the year.
