Paula Bone asked for Hank Pruitt to hear his Santa letter again as Pauline read the Santa Claus notes. John Ballard of San Antonio sends greetings to all. The scene shows year round holiday cheer through Sunday School ties.
A festive holiday message honors workers and service members from Seattle to Alaska to France and Alabama. It salutes the John Lewis Merrills, Lynn Lanes, Me McConal, Mrs. J. M. Foss, Carl Pruitt, W. M. Parker, John Ballard, and all Somervell County residents and service people for building together. It ends with warm Christmas wishes.
Saturday volunteers sold over 450 Blue Crutches and raised 102.11 dollars for the March of Dimes. Donations included L. G. Tillman and a peanut auction with 17.50 from peanuts, plus a Chamber of Commerce bid of 10. The note urges further giving and plans for a January luncheon by Women’s Home Demonstration Clubs to support ongoing hospital care costs for crippled individuals.
A child writes to Santa requesting a BB rifle and games. He asks Santa to remember all the other children and to bring a View-Master and his two front teeth along with gifts for Christmas morning. He signs with love.
A young boy named Charles Wirt writes to Santa asking for a farm set a wagon and fruit and nuts as Christmas gifts. The note shows a simple holiday request from a child to Santa.
Miss Beverly Dotson is at home from NTSC at Denton for the holidays.
In a special assembly at the High School auditorium Tuesday coach James Willingham awarded letter jackets to 17 members of the 1955 Tiger football team, district champions of 11 A. Also honored were coaches and cheerleaders with awards and special acknowledgments for concession stand workers.
Most city businesses close Mondays December 26 and January 2. Several shops including C A Miam Son and White Auto, Gresham Co, and Hunter Jewelry close both Mondays. others list Christmas Day closures. Santa visits planned, photos of decorated homes at Palace Theatre, calls to report efforts for display.
G W Sullivan 85 of Glen Rose Texas died at his home Sunday after a long illness. Born in Lee County Georgia he moved to Texas early. He married Willie Capitola White in 1900 and worked as a farmer. Survived by widow daughter and sister all of Glen Rose with many grandchildren. Funeral by Crosier Pearson Glen Rose Church of Christ with interment at White Cemetery. Pallbears named.
Mr and Mrs Howard Sego were honored by the Central Texas Conference Board of Education during a lunch at the Cleburne District Conference in Glen Rose. They are leaving the camp January 1 after years serving as superintendent and dietitian. A letter of praise was read and gifts given, including an electric coffee maker and a serving tray.
Mr and Mrs Tom Voss of Hillsboro are appointed superintendent and dietitian of the Methodist Glen Lake Camp at Glen Rose with duties starting January 1 1956. Voss background includes Texas A M College graduate status Corps of Engineers service county agricultural agent roles and extensive church leadership. Mrs Voss is Texas State College for Women graduate and former County Home Demonstration Agent in Missouri and Texas. The family plans to move to Glen Lake in late December joining three children Dick Bob and Kay.
The Orr Laundry begins cleaning and pressing service with new machinery and redecorated interior. Pickup and delivery offered. the building split with cleaning on one side and laundry on the other. owners Mr and Mrs Sam Orr welcome old and new customers.
Jeff Simmons was admitted Sunday after a light stroke with fair condition. J. F. Reynolds remains about the same. Jack Stacy was admitted Monday with condition not serious.
The Reverend Granger of the Central Texas Conference lauds the Legos for turning frail wooden huts into a modern stone camp at Glen Lake. He notes the vast contributions to the camp and to the lives of thousands who have visited, and expresses the conference's deep appreciation for Mr and Mrs Sego's work.
The Glen Rose team captured the Joshua Tournament title last Saturday night by defeating a final opponent in a close championship contest.
