Round Square discusses bridge site with engineers

Ft Worth District Engineer R A Bossy met Glen Rose city officials including Doc Boyd and Potter to talk over routing a new bridge over the Paluxy. They weighed moving the bridge east or west versus cost and safety, with a minor east shift as a possible solution. The engineers pledged to study options to benefit residents. Mr and Mrs Tom Voss of Hillsboro will replace the Segos on January 1.

1956 Cotton Referendum Voting Details

Upland cotton growers vote December 13 1955 on marketing quotas for 1956 cotton. Eligible voters include farm couples with 1955 upland cotton activity. Quotas require two thirds approval. If approved, price support ranges 75 to 90 percent of parity. If rejected, quotas end and parity support capped at 50 percent. The Glen Rose tournament began Thursday with Clifton vs Joshua girls at 2 30 pm and Clifton vs Joshua boys at 4 pm. Granbury vs Meridian boys at 8 15 pm followed Glen Rose vs Dublin girls at 8 15 pm. Friday night action includes four games at 5 30 pm with two games Saturday morning and more Saturday afternoon culminating in finals Saturday night.

Joe Tarver, pioneer Somerville County family member, died in Dallas last Friday December 3. Burial occurred in a Dallas cemetery. Survivors include his widow, his son Joe Jr, and his brother Frank Tarver of Glen Rose.

Mrs Walter Newman 78 dies after long illness in local hospital

Mrs Walter Newman, 78, died Saturday December 3 after a long illness. She lived in Glen Rose after returning from Ft Worth. Born July 18, 1877 in Lavaca County, she is survived by her husband three sons Travis Hunter Coleman and two daughters Lula Belle Bryan and Rudean Latham. Six Year Old Son of Former Local Girl Dies in Dallas

Bobby Ray Doughty six son of Mr and Mrs Bob Doughty died in a Dallas hospital on December 6 from a brain clot. His mother is the former Jenny Kelley and his grandparents are Mr and Mrs Cyrus Kelly. Bobbie was in first year of school and had been healthy until two weeks before. Services were planned for Thursday in Mexia at 2:00 p m.
