Glen Rose FFA Team Heads to National Contests in Oklahoma City
The Glen Rose FFA Chapter pasture and range judging team, coached by W. B. Cowan Jr, earned a national berth by finishing second at Tarleton State College Stephenville in the state contest. Team members are Carl Ernst Don Jones Bob Miller Hank Pruitt with Bob White as alternate. Carl Ernst led with seventh in a 100 contender field. The land judging team placed 22nd in state. Funds for the trip were raised by local supporters including Walter Ernst and Glen Rose Reporter.

Somervell County reports show an all time high bank balance as of March 31 with starting funds of 20 380 15 receipts of 44 168 29 and disbursements 25 474 29 leaving 39 074 15. Junior High and Girls Track Meet Opens Today at Local Track
The second annual Junior High Track Meet and first Girls High School meet begin at 2 p.m. at the local track. Finals set for 7 p.m. Eight junior high teams and six high school girls teams have entered, officials said Tuesday.

Glen Rose Girls Track Qualify For Regional Meet
Eight Glen Rose High School girls qualified for the regional track meet in Denton after strong district showings. Mary Ann Strawn led with first in the 60 yard dash and second in the 100 yard dash and discus, along with a first in the 440 yard relay. Deb bie Young earned a third in the 80 meter hurdles, while English and teammates helped secure relay placements and other finalists. UIL Winners Parker And McClure Shine At Region II-A
Mary Parker and Lana McClure won first places at the Region II-A Interscholastic League literary contest held at North Texas State University in Denton.
