Showers across the county Tuesday measured from 3.83 to over five inches with 4.69 inches for April and 14.7 inches for the year. Flooded creeks stranded the No. 3 school bus and delayed routes. C C Moss and Weldon Hart were affected. A Paluxy musical is announced for Saturday night April 25 at the school.

Pecan Field Day Set at Granbury for April 29
A Pecan Field Day will be held Wednesday April 29 in the district courtroom at the courthouse in Granbury starting at 10 a.m. Speakers include B C Hancock Tom Denman and L D Romburg. At 1 30 p m the group visits the Tommy Grissom orchard for a pecan nut case borers banding demonstration and disease discussion. All Somervell County pecan growers are invited to attend, sponsored by Hood County Pecan Growers Association and the Extension Service.

Annual FFA Banquet Held With Local Honor Awards
The annual FFA banquet occurred Monday night in the school cafeteria with J. W. Autry Tarleton State College head of Agriculture as guest speaker. Awards went to O. Z. Lemens Jr. farm safety Lemuel Bivens farm mechanics Wayne Bridewell livestock farming Gary Marks soil and water management Richard West crop farming Larry Dempsey dairy farming Eddie Stroud poultry farming John Shackelford public speaking Glenn Elliott star greenhand John Pruitt chapter star farmer Bill Miller Outstanding FFA Boy of the Year. Local recipients Ruby Lane H. A. Hunter Earl Royal received appreciation certificates and Clyde Armstrong Clyde Sexton earned two chapter farmer degrees. About 100 people attended, including Ash ley Lovell state FFA vice-president from Gatesville and Tarleton student. Six senior girls served the meal, prepared by chapter members' mothers. Mrs. Lowell Ramsey left Fort Worth by bus to return to Lexington Ky after visiting relatives.

Civil Defense School Set Here Next Week
The Community School Organization sponsors a Civil Defense School at Glen Rose High School from April 27 to May 1. Classes run 7 30 to 10 30 each evening. The course titled Personal and Family Survival is offered by the Department of Defense with an instructor from the Texas Education Agency. Swaim and Hawkins Win Regional Track Berths
Glen Rose High School track duo Floyd Swaim and Nathan Hawkins earned regional berths in Denton after strong district showings. Swaim won discus at 119 ft 9 14 in and Hawkins placed second in the 180 yard low hurdles, both earning spots for Saturday's regional meet. Other Tigers scored but did not qualify, as Clifton led with 209 points and Glen Rose finished fourth.

Mrs J M Orr 81 a Cleburne resident for 15 years died Monday morning at Memorial Hospital after hip surgery. Born Gracie Ellen Cheek in Johnson County May 31 1882 she married J M Orr Aug 4 1901. Funeral at East Side Church of Christ Cleburne interment Georges Creek Cemetery. Survivors include husband four sons two daughters three sisters and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

BRA Advances For DeCordova Planning By BRA
The Brazos River Authority receives a 313108 dollar advance from HHFA for final planning of the DeCordova Bend dam and powerhouse on the Brazos River near Glen Rose. The funds, part of about 500000 dollars in total advances, will be repaid after construction. The project aims to create a 155000 acre foot reservoir with two generating units and a total cost of 21000000 dollars as licenses and permits are pursued.
