Brad Spencer and teammates finish second in the District Golf meet at Whitney with Brad tying another Whitney golfer for medalist honors. The local team lost only to the host squad on home soil and aims for regional competition in Denton on Saturday, April 24. Campbell Building Declared Texas Historical Landmark Medallion Set

The Campbell Building in Glen Rose is designated a Texas Historical Landmark and will receive a medallion plaque Sunday at 2 30 p m. Mayor Eugene G Connally will host the ceremony with remarks by State Representative J E Ward and County Judge Temple Summers. The program features the Glen Rose High School Band and memories from Campbell descendants. Also noted are visits by Allan Covery and Hoot Williams families and Kathy Covey’s beauty school license test in Austin.

Weather highs and lows for the week with frost damage

The week showed a 25 degree low on April 7 and a 90 degree high on Monday. Robert Mack, official observer for the U S Weather Service, records a dry week with no moisture. Freezing temperatures last week damaged gardens and fruit trees.

Meredith Rites Held Tuesday At Chapel Here

Funeral service for Mrs. Willie Meredith was held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Reynolds Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. L. Glaze and Rev. John Hutcheson officiating. She died Sunday after a long illness. Born in Chalk Mountain, she moved to Glen Rose as a child. Survived by sisters Mrs. Walter Lechner and Mrs. Jim Turner and brother W. J. Nowlin. Burial Squaw Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers listed.

Invitational Track Meet At Tiger Stadium Features Multiple Schools

An all ages invitational track meet for high school girls and junior high boys and girls will start at Tiger Stadium Saturday at 9 30 a m with preliminaries and field events. Finals begin at 2 p m Weldon Hart says teams from Maypearl Gordon Rio Vista Grandview China Spring Lake Dallas Crawfills Gap Tolar Glen Rose and others have entered. Admission is 25 and 50 cents. Mrs Mary Torres Bone estranged wife of Paul Bone pleaded guilty to arson and received a two year penitentiary sentence probated over three years in 18th District Court Judge Steve Lathem presiding. The fire at the Bone home last year led to the indictment on June 11 1970 with jurors released after noon recess. Judge Latham of Hillsboro sat in for Judge John James this week.

Walnut Springs Garden Club schedules Sunday pilgrimage on April 18 with stops at Barry Cemetery where Col. Buck Barry is buried, Fulton Cemetery among area pioneers, Flat Top Ranch, Cureton graves, Taylor Springs, and a rock cliff with historical inscriptions near Flag Branch. 19 Glen Rose Students Enter UIL Meet at Baylor

Nineteen Glen Rose High School students will compete in eight UIL events at Baylor University in Waco with results to be published next week. Literary contestants include Laurie Moseley II, Gay Gibbs, and Dale Conger. Somervell County Commissioners Meet in Regular Session

The Somervell County Commissioners Court voted to join Hood County in buying a sheriff's band radio for the patrol car of Game Management Officer Allen Hardin and approved a microphone and speaker for the sheriff's front office. School trustee election ballots were canvassed with J. B. Ivy, Earl P. Flanary, and Clyde Armstrong declared winners. Visitors included the Frye family and others from Shamrock Houston and Tuxedo.
