Qualified voters in Somervell County and Glen Rose ISD will vote Saturday April 3 for school trustees and the County School Board at the high school library from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Seven candidates vie for four board seats. mayor and two councilmen to be chosen April 6 from eight mayoral candidates and five council contenders. Polls open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the city hall.

Glen Rose Teachers Estha West and C A Starnes Resign
Glen Rose School Board accepted the resignations of Estha West and C A Starnes effective at year end. Supt J M McCroskey announced faculty contracts would be extended for one more year and lunchroom staff bus drivers and custodians rehired. West retires after 47 years teaching language arts in grades six to eight. Starnes to attend Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and continues as high school English and speech instructor and youth director at Southside Baptist Church in Granbury.

Old White Home in Nemo Community Burned in Fire
The two story White home in the Nemo community of Somervell County dating from 1878 was destroyed by fire Saturday morning. Mrs. Ruby White occupied the house and the kitchen started the blaze. The fire fully engulfed the structure and its contents. Mrs. White is living with her son Reece and his family.

Air Force Sets Up Hospital at Local Agriculture Building
The Air Force established a temporary hospital at the agriculture building last Friday to care for casualties in a simulated atomic attack on Carswell AFB Fort Worth. Activity was brisk on U S Highway 67 as hundreds of personnel and vehicles moved in and out all day.

Bosque County Lad Released On Bond
Sheriff Speck Strawn arrested a 19 year old Bosque County youth for burglary of Halsey’s Wrecking Yard and theft of tools from Theron Hatsey. The youth was released on bond to await action of the grand jury.

Science Fair Awards Presented At Glen Rose School
Glen Rose School held a two day science fair judged by Miss Betty Ballard with entries across elementary to high school levels. Lemuel Bivens won Tarleton State College scholarship, Royce Nickell earned World Book dictionary set, and John Parker received a Cycle Teacher Kit. Thirty winning entries advance to the Baylor University regional science fair in Waco.
