Old Building in Gladewater Tells Local Transformation Story
A 1932 corrugated iron warehouse near Gladewater’s downtown tracks, built to store new cars for H L McKaig, highlights the town’s shift from a cotton farming village to an oil boom center. McKaig’s Chevrolet firm and showroom later moved to Highway 80 east, with the name continuing under new ownership. The piece notes the building’s dilapidation and its role in local history.
