Judge lowers charge in case of Overton man
Floyd Edward Stanley, 33, of Overton, charged with assaulting a 9 year old Upshur County girl, had the charge reduced from criminal assault to assault with intent to commit criminal assault by Smith County Grand Jury. District Attorney Curtis Owen cited medical evidence showing the final act was not consumated and noted the death penalty is available on the criminal assault charge but not on the lesser count.
United Fund Meeting Scheduled Tuesday in Gladewater
Bill Langford president of the United Fund of Gladewater calls an 8 p.m. meeting of officers and directors at the Community Building to set next year’s budget and announce the 1971 72 Drive.
