United Fund Drive Opens With Coffee and Doughnuts
Gladewater workers begin the United Fund drive at 7 a.m. Monday in the Chamber of Commerce B. P. Cuke Room with coffee and doughnuts. The goal for the year is 15,500 dollars. A total of 16,025 dollars was distributed to 17 United Fund recipients.

Rape reported in Gladewater under investigation
Gladewater police investigated a reported rape involving a 28 year old woman and four or five men about 11 30 pm Wednesday as she left a tavern. The woman said two men forced her into a car, drove to an isolated area, robbed her of $20, and a complaint has been filed with the Gregg County District Attorney for further action. No charges were filed at the time.
