E C Morgan Dies Suddenly Rites Thursday

Estes Clyde Morgan 78 died suddenly at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Waco while visiting his daughter Lola Mae Williford. Funeral at 3 p.m. Thursday Malcolm Stone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Brannen. Burial at Gladewater Memorial Park. He was born January 23 1891 in Gatesville and lived in Gladewater since 1931. He was a Humble Oil retiree and World War I veteran with the American Legion. Survivors include wife Lola two daughters son and extended family. Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews.

Dooley Rites Monday at Methodist Church

Robert S. Dooley aged 62 died after a brief illness in a local hospital. Funeral services were conducted at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. James Brannen presiding and burial in Gladewater Memorial Park. He was born June 19, 1905 in Muldrow Oklahoma. Survived by wife Verlon two daughters Esther Ann Walker and Betty McCulley one son Robert W. Dooley a brother Ralph R. Dooley and nine grandchildren.

Senator Strong To Be Honored At Appreciation Dinner

State Senator Jack Strong and his family will be honored at an appreciation dinner in Longview on Wednesday December 3 at 7 30 p m at the Contessa Inn. A M Willis Jr of Longview chairs the event attended by local and state officials. Senator Strong will be recognized by Senate colleagues with remarks from former Governor John Connally Lieutenant Governor Ben Barnes and National Democratic Committeeman Robert Strauss.

Gladewater Band Earns 3 Rating In Region IV Contest

The Gladewater High School Band received a 3 rating in the Region IV Marching Band Contest in Tyler, with bands judged on UIL standards. Class AA results list Gladewater at 3 alongside several other schools. Class AAA and AAAA results include Texarkana, Marshall, Lufkin, Longview and Greenville with mixed ratings.

Downtown Pep Rally Draws Community Support

A second downtown pep rally is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday in front of City Hall led by Mack Wiley of the Chamber of Commerce. The event follows a prior rally near Gladewater High School and cheers for the Bears ahead of the regional clash with Kaufman in Longview.
