Texas Cities Receive November City Sales Tax Rebates

Comptroller Bob Bullock announced checks totaling 13.2 million were mailed Monday to 640 Texas cities as November rebates of the one cent city sales tax. The year to date rebates reach 252.2 million, up 28.5 million from last year.

Gun Wielding Bandit Robs Gladewater Thriftyman Pantry

A black male about 30 years old robbed the Thriftyman Pantry Store near US 271 South and SH 135 at 8:45 p.m. Sunday, taking 860 dollars from a cash register, a cash box, and a purse. No injuries. He fled in a beige Monte Carlo. Police identified two clerks involved and officers investigated.

School board accepts principal’s resignation

The school board met in a special noon session and voted to accept the resignation of GHS principal Hugh E. Mixon submitted last Thursday. The resignation becomes effective December 31 as the board held an executive session.

Longview High School moves from downtown into a $10 million 270000 square foot central instructional building on a 64 acre site near Loop 281 and US 259. Principal Dr. Jim R.
