The Big Sandy council reinstated the on again police reserve force after a recent meeting. Most reserves are Gladewater residents and former Gladewater reserve members who resigned when Jimmie Davis became chief last spring. Current status of the volunteers is reported as up in the air.

Gladewater Municipal Hospital will raise private and semi private room rates to 68 and 63 dollars respectively and emergency room fee to 12 dollars starting December 1. A ten percent across the board salary raise for all employees was approved to offset higher costs, with a single dissenting vote from Bud Morse.

Gibson Discount Center to Open in Gladewater Nov/Dec
The Gladewater store, one of 15 in the area, aims to open around December 1 with Aldridge as manager designate. He has interviewed about 125 applicants and plans to staff 20 positions, moving to the store offices Friday.
