Faulder to be formally sentenced for 1975 capital murder
Joseph Stanley Faulder, 40, was convicted in the 188th District Court of Judge Marcus Vascocu of capital murder in the July 8, 1975 killing of Mrs. Inez Phillips. He will be formally sentenced by Judge Vascocu on Wednesday November 9 at 1 am. An automatic appeal is expected, but no plans have been announced by Faulder’s court appointed counsel Bernard G. Solomon.

GHS FFA Funds Gary Lee Memorial Scholarship
The Gladewater High School FFA chapter gave a 100 dollar check to the Gary Lee Memorial Scholarship Fund at a Thursday ceremony. Principal Mike Ogg said the fund is 1600 dollars toward a 2000 dollar goal and will be placed in trust with interest supporting a top senior chosen by a student faculty committee. Sammy and Mrs Price, Gary’s parents, have already seen this year’s award. The fund honors Gary Lee, a late Gladewater athlete who died last summer. Contributions can be mailed to Gladewater High School care of Mike Ogg.
