Gladewater Municipal Hospital will provide 24 hour weekend emergency coverage this weekend with one licensed physician on duty from Friday 6 p.m. to Monday 6 a.m. The GEPS will handle true emergencies and consultations for lesser illnesses, admit patients when needed, and coordinate with patients’ regular doctors.

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Malcolm Stone Funeral Home Chapel for W. E. Mitchell 92 who died Sunday at Oak Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. Mitchell a former Parks Superintendent for Gladewater and longtime resident since 1939 was born in Oneto Alabama and was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter Mrs Arthur Vaughn of Longview three sisters a daughter in law two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. pallbearers named.

Gladewater school board met with an architectural firm Monday night to review a district wide needs survey for four campuses. The firm will study heating cooling electrical work roofs and walls and a new high school complex possibly including athletic facilities. The project could take at least two years from conception to completion and will be evaluated alongside existing buildings.
