Top Scholars Named at Gladewater High

Gladewater High School named its top graduates for the 1977 class. Valedictorian Holly Ford with a 97.2232 average, salutatorian Linda Perry at 96.15573, and Kathy Hill at 96.1406. Baccalaureate May 22, and commencement May 27 at Bear Stadium, with rain plan to move to the auditorium.

Gladewater High School Choir Spring Concert Planned

Gladewater High School appears set for Thursday night with Tamara Hart directing a 7:30 concert in the high school auditorium. The program features sacred spiritual and pop pieces and marks a year of achievements including superior ratings at Tri-State Music Festival in Enid and at the University Interscholastic League sightreading contest.

Weekend emergency coverage set for Gladewater hospital

Gladewater Municipal Hospital will provide 24 hour weekend emergency coverage this weekend with one licensed physician on duty from Friday 6 p.m. to Monday 6 a.m. The GEPS will handle true emergencies and consultations for lesser illnesses, admit patients when needed, and coordinate with patients’ regular doctors.

Services held for W. E. Mitchell 92 in Gladewater

Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Malcolm Stone Funeral Home Chapel for W. E. Mitchell 92 who died Sunday at Oak Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. Mitchell a former Parks Superintendent for Gladewater and longtime resident since 1939 was born in Oneto Alabama and was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter Mrs Arthur Vaughn of Longview three sisters a daughter in law two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. pallbearers named.

Architects discuss planned Gladewater school construction

Gladewater school board met with an architectural firm Monday night to review a district wide needs survey for four campuses. The firm will study heating cooling electrical work roofs and walls and a new high school complex possibly including athletic facilities. The project could take at least two years from conception to completion and will be evaluated alongside existing buildings.

Lions fall in bi district baseball title game

The Union Grove Lions lost 3-2 to Maud in Daingerfield with a three run first inning for Maud and a later rally by Union Grove led by Randy Davis starting on the mound and Jon Cooper in relief. About 100 Lions fans attended. a second game is set for Thursday at Daingerfield.
