Hospital board approves budget and three percent raise

The Gladewater Municipal Hospital board adopted a 1,036,188 budget for 1972 73 and approved a three percent raise for employees effective after March 31. The board also authorized five medical equipment purchases including an image intensifier and portable x ray system.

Camp Fire Girls and Blue Birds in Gladewater mark 62 years with church service at First United Methodist on Sunday and a Little Lady tea at the Camp Fire Center. Gladewater district now has 20 active groups led by district executive Mrs. Yevon Pilcher and area director Mrs. Dean Leverett. The district board, chaired by Glenn Mayfield, meets monthly as growth continues.

Gladewater High adopts new English Communications course

Gladewater High School launches English Communications to improve reading comprehension and writing. Led by Mrs. Lenora Amos and aide Mrs. Belle Fisher, the program uses individualized, self paced work areas, weekly assignments, and audio visual aids. Forty students are enrolled with class caps of ten per room and end of term testing. officials expect rapid expansion to 70 next year.
