Gladewater Band Members Win Three Firsts and Three Seconds
Gladewater High School band members earned three first and three second places at the University Interscholastic League event at Pine Tree School. First division honors went to Karen Hudspeth Gloria Hancock Donna Steward clarinet trio and to a woodwind ensemble. Second division placers included a trombone trio a brass choir a flute quartet and a drum solo. All winners qualify for jackets and all trip participants were praised as good representatives for GHS.

Gladewater Clarksville water sale approved by city council
The Gladewater city council approved a contract to sell treated water and process Clarksville City sewage. Terms set minimum 150000 gallons monthly at 45 cents for the first 100000, 4 cents for next 50000, and 35 cents beyond. sewage at 20 cents per thousand gallons. Clarksville City pays Gladewater $22500 upfront plus monthly minimums. The deal includes facility expansion sharing and Clarksville to handle installation and operation of its systems.

Four Gregg County amendments set for May 18 election
Gregg County commissioners set May 18 for a four-item constitutional amendment vote. Precinct 3 box will be at Gladewater City Hall. In Tyler Dr. Richard P Lane head of the North East Texas Tuberculosis and Related Diseases Association will appear on KLTV Friday at noon. He practices in Wills Point and works with the organization. Kilgore officers reviewed the East Texas Council of Governments program plan at a Community Center meeting. The plan will be presented to the full membership at the group’s second semi annual meeting Thursday.
