Funeral services held for Bud Weiser 77
Funeral services for Christian O. Bud Weiser, 77, were held Monday at 2 p.m. in Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev W W Schardt officiating. Burial followed in Memorial Park. Weiser, a Gladewater merchant of 40 years, died Saturday of an apparent heart attack at his store Weiser Tire and Appliance. He was a WWI veteran and active civic leader, survived by his wife Katie, a son Ralph in Magnolia Ark a daughter Mrs Jack Maxwell Dallas five brothers and one sister and five grandchildren.

School board reviews VOE program and policy changes
Gladewater school board watched a VOE program in action with Mrs Billie Johnston and senior students demonstrating office machines and procedures. They also reviewed February tax collector’s report, approved bills, amended the budget, ratified textbook adoption, and discussed dress code. The Shreveport Weather Bureau warned the Sabine River would reach flood stage and crest at 30 feet by Sunday. Gladewater recorded 2 inches of rainfall from 7 a.m. Tuesday to 7 a.m. Wednesday, bringing March totals to 1.5 inches, with the month total at 55 inches.

Greenville man saves life of Gladewater resident from burning home
Fred Pool of Greenville and a Dallas worker pulled Chester Brown Oliver from a blazing house near Ambassador College after a Feb 27 fire. Oliver survived severe burns and was hospitalized in Galveston. The nearby Fred Waring Pennsylvanians faced a fatal bus accident as Martin Wolfe was struck by a westbound car while helpers aided Oliver.
