Gladewater Chamber Opens Its New Home On North Main Street
The Gladewater Chamber of Commerce dedicates its own office after years in rented space. The Bradley-Foshee estate and the City of Gladewater provided the building, sold to the Chamber for a dollar, with remodeling and furnishings funded by members and donors. The ribbon cutting marks a civic milestone and a pledge to community progress.

Camp Fire Girls District Board Formed in Gladewater
Glen Mayfield announced the completion of the Gladewater District board with two new members elected at the March meeting. Dallas County grand jurors issued a third indictment charging former city crime commissioner John McKee, also known as James Kell Zullinger, with swindling the Scottish Rite bodies of 44968 through stock dealings with Grand Avenue Bank and Trust Co. Earlier counts cited embezzlement from Scottish Rite funds. McKee denies being Zullinger, with police and district attorney noting the alias and past charges.

Mayor C G Johnston will cut the ribbon at 10 a m Thursday for the Chamber of Commerce new offices at 215 North Main Street. The remodeled building adds office space a meeting room and storage with an open house to 4 30 p m. Reverend Conrad Winborn will give the invocation and Bill Wagner will speak.

A record 1,200 people attended Longview's annual Chamber of Commerce banquet held at the Gregg County Fairgrounds. Robert Coleman of Pullman Trailmobile Division was installed as president, with E. New minister and family settle in at Quitman Church

The Evans Hotel at 504 Longview Street Kilgore was destroyed by fire early Tuesday. A nearby home and business were damaged by the flames as the two story frame structure burned.

A fire reported by Ruby Harris at 3 a.m. engulfed the Buckstaff Motor Co on Longview Street with a door and plate glass windows broken.
