Gladewater School Hosts Western and Centennial Day
Gladewater Middle School Student Council sponsors Western Day and Gladewater Centennial Day on Friday with a dress code heavy on western wear. Prizes will go to top dressed students in grades six through eight and one teacher per gender overall. Winners announced in 7th period and photographed in the office.

Waring group at Ambassador College thrills 3000 in Big Sandy
Fred Waring Pennsylvanians entertained about 3000 Ambassador College students faculty and officials including Garner Ted Armstrong and Herbert Waring in a two and a half hour concert. The event ended with tragedy as a musician died when the troupe’s bus stopped to aid a fire at Cross Apartments near Gladewater.

Tragedy hits Pennsylvanians tour after concert
Martin Wolfe 28 a trombonist for Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians died in a highway crash near Gladewater Texas after the Am bassador College concert. Willie Lee Newman drove westbound Chevrolet 1963 model. The accident occurred about 11 45 p m. on US 80. Wolfe was from Annandale Virginia. Chester Brown Oliver suffered severe burns in a nearby house fire and was hospitalized in stable condition. Fire Marshal Potts investigates the blaze.
