Gladewater Board Hears Pool Clean Up and TV Plan
The Gladewater school board learned the Sabine River flood left mud in the park pool delaying filling and requiring drainage and cleaning. Supt. Roy Johnson reports enrollment will rise by 105 for the 1975-76 term. The board approved participation in Educational Television Channel 13 costing about 378.75 for the year and a bid of 26,001 for a student-built house, with labor by students not included in price.

Grays Buy Food Store Back From Hulls in Gladewater
Dewey and Inez Gray announced the purchase of the grocery and market from Fred Hull. The Grays built the store in 1943 and ran it until 1972 when they sold to Hull, who will continue operating Quik Serv and the adjacent washateria. Hull owns other properties and will run the store full time with Mrs. Gray assisting. The Grays express pride in serving customers and loyal employees as they return to the business.

Mixon Selected Principal at GHS in Gladewater
Hugh Mixon, 36, formerly vice principal at GHS, was chosen as principal by the school board at Monday's meeting. He succeeds Jack James, who left to become principal at La Vega High School in Waco. Mixon is a Broaddus, Texas native with a 1957 high school graduation and prior teaching and coaching roles in Garrison and Gladewater.

Mud Flood Delays School Pool Opening Near Tenery Street
Weekend rains sent mud from the nearby tennis area into the Tenery Street school pool. Workers pumped mud from the water using filters but were unable to clear it, draining the pool for a two day cleanup. Officials still hope to open on Saturday June 14.

Rodeo Week Security Raised With State and Local Help
