Mrs. Mary Pope Dies in Gladewater Rites Held

Mary Irene Pope aged 68 of 1202 North Street died Monday night in a local hospital. A Rosary was said Tuesday at Malcolm Stone Funeral Home and a Requiem Mass was held Wednesday at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Burial followed at Gladewater Memorial Park. Survived by husband Andrew and several nieces and nephews.

Hopkins County finances show speeding tickets and fees funding courthouse operations. Auditor Joe Pogue reports about 153000 dollars raised from fines and fees last year. Justice of the Peace office led with 47000 dollars, largely from speeding tickets, while the tax office collected 38000 dollars from taxes and license plate fees.
