Mrs. Sam Price Dies After 18 Month Illness

Mrs. Sam Price 46 died Tuesday afternoon after an 18 month illness. Funeral services Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with burial at Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. She had lived in Gladewater since 1946 after marrying Mr. Price and worked in the tax office and as a bookkeeper for Merton Young and Walker Pharmacy. She is survived by her husband, daughter Becky Jo and fiancé Doug Parrish, two brothers Gene and George Baker, Columbus Ohio, and sister Jo MecMasters, Columbus, along with nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are James Jaggers James Walker Howard Daniel Leslie Moore Don Smith Roy Johnson.

Gregg County Sheriff's Reserve Unit Commissioned At Banquet

Gregg County sheriff's reserve unit of 60 members received five point star badges and commissions at a Contessa Inn banquet in Longview. The group completed a 70 hour training course at Kilgore College under East Texas Police Academy and Gregg County Red Cross instruction. Judges and officials praised their dedication and vow to serve as a ready reserve for the sheriff's office.

McKnight elected to Scott and White board in Temple

Mrs. Lou Peel 75 dies after short illness in Gladewater

Mrs. Lou Pearl Peel 75 of 331 South Main died Monday evening in a local hospital after a short illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Malcolm Stone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. C. B. Warren officiating. Burial was in Gladewater Memorial Park. She had lived in Gladewater since 1931, moving from Oklahoma. Survived by son Levi Boyles Crosby. daughters Laura Brackeen Maydeen Hardin of Gladewater and Billey Lyon of Houston. brother Lee Taylor of Arizona. 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Individually Guided Education arrives at Broadway School

Broadway School will adopt Individually Guided Education in 1972 73 under a new Multiunit Staff. The program tailors learning to each pupil, with testing goals and retests, and lets students help choose how they learn. Four units with named staff and about 420 pupils total will implement the cycle.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Catherine Loflin 73 who died Sunday in a local hospital after a long illness. The Rev B F Risinger officiated at First Baptist Church with burial in Gladewater Memorial Park. A 50 year resident of Gladewater she is survived by a brother in law Walter Vaughn Bath NC a sister in law Mrs Ruth Sparks LaPorte and one niece Mrs Pat Behler Pasadena Texas Pallbearers were Horace Carmichael J W Beavers Ray Cumbie John Self Harold Rose and Jule Powen.
