John Garner dies at 82 with rites in Friendship Baptist Church
John Earl Garner 82 died Monday in a local hospital after illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 pm in Malcolm Stone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Alexander officiating. Burial followed in Friendship Cemetery. He was a Smith County native and Friendship Church member, survived by a son Roscoe Garner, a daughter Onita Bamberg, two sisters, two brothers, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
