Medco Pharmacy Plans Grand Opening With Prizes

Medco Pharmacy at 302 B W Upshut prepares for a grand opening Saturday featuring 25 prize drawings and free gifts for all. Registration runs through opening day with drawings including a corning ware set, percolator, electric toothbrush, camera, razor, hair setter, panty hose, and chocolates. The new store offers baby needs gifts cosmetics greeting cards candy and drugs with a larger prescription area and a family computerized record for easy refills. Owner Charles Wilson leads the pharmacy with wife Faye, pharmacist partners Jake Crouch and J W Aselton, and Grady Holmes delivering. Wilson is active in state and local pharmacy groups.

Gladewater Plans Three Day Honor America Event

A three day celebration in Gladewater July 3 to 5 is led by the Chamber of Commerce and Jaycees. Highlights include the Gladewater Lake Show by the Caddo Ski-Bees on July 5 and a fireworks display at sundown, plus a Little Miss Gladewater pageant and a jaycees golf tournament with prizes. Union Grove Board Keeps School Tax Rate Steady

Union Grove Board of Education met Monday night and voted not to raise school taxes. The maintenance tax rate will stay at 1.50 dollars per 100 dollars of assessed valuation despite higher costs and a drop in mineral value. The district has no bonded indebtedness, so no tax for that purpose.

Frank Guy Hopson 501 Paradise Hill died Sunday at 3 p m after a short illness. A Gladewater resident for 25 years he moved from Indianapolis He was born August 4 1904 in Tennessee a WWII Merchant Marine veteran and retired pest control operator Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p m at Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel Burial was in Memorial Park Survivors include sister Grace Collins of Bedford Indiana Pallbearers are listed C D Speed resigned as board secretary moving to Huntington to pastor Salem Missionary Baptist Church Bruce Watts elected secretary Kay Moyers hired as homemaking teacher and other staff changes were made Board members took oaths and reports on mineral and real estate values were given The board approved a new 72 passenger bus for Suffolk route and will solicit bids for a high school classroom and depository for next biennium Region VII agreement was renewed and the budget adopted plus band hall remodeled inspection noted.

Middle School Classes Resume July 6 After Holiday

Due to the Fourth of July holiday there will be no classes at Middle School on Monday July 5. Regular classes will resume on Tuesday July 6 and will run through July 8. Terri Dunn Pan Hanes Tina Baker Robin Phillips are volunteer student assistants in the library this summer helping Mrs. Mayer.
