A Mass of Thanksgiving will be held January 19 at 8:36 a.m. in St. Theresa's Church Gladewater to mark the renovation completion. Renovations include new dark oak pews with green kneelers from Hall Brothers of Henderson replacing old pews sold to an Assembly of God group in Greggton and a carpeted floor.

The 1969 Texas Baptist Evangelism Conference opens Monday in Dallas and runs to Wednesday at First Baptist Church and Dallas Memorial Auditorium. Under the theme Christ the Only Hope, BGCT aims to energize missionaries for the hemispheric program noted as the century’s greatest evangelism opportunity. Last year 9,000 attended opening night. organizers expect higher turnout. The event is inspirational with no legislative or organizational structure.
