Explosion at Eastman Plant Kills Three in Longview
A 7:40 a.m. blast at the Eastman Company polyethylene unit in Longview Texas killed three employees and hospitalized seven, with one in critical condition. Damages are estimated over a million dollars and repairs could take at least a month. The dead include L. D. Burks, 42, of Longview, and Larry R. Wells, 22.

Services Monday For Mrs. Crabtree
Funeral services for Frances Darlene Crabtree are set for 2 p.m. Monday at Malcom Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev. Billy Grimes officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park. Crabtree, 51, died Friday night after a several month illness at Medical Center in Tyler. She lived in Gladewater since 1931 and worked as a Southwestern Bell operator for 29 years. She is survived by husband Tom a daughter Sharon Ledbetter a son Curtis a brother Dexter Hutchings a sister Peggy Romines her mother Mrs. Henry Hutchings and two grandchildren Sheryl and Tak Ledbetter. Pallbearers: Vernon Doyle Jerry Willie Lloyd Clifford Crabtree.
