Fields ending career as music minister
B B Fields will retire from the staff of the First Baptist Church this month and be honored as B B Fields Day. He will sing a solo, the Irene Dillon Fields Memorial Handbells will be rung, and the Sanctuary Choir and Men's Chorus will perform as Richard Cavel shares a living proof testimony. The Rev Risinger will preach from Luke 9 57 62. Fields came to Gladewater sixteen and a half years ago as Minister of Music and Education and will continue religious work part time.

Gladewater Hospital Board Approves Bank Loan
At a called meeting on Thursday the Gladewater Municipal Hospital board approved a loan from First State Bank to cover construction and equipment costs for the cardiopulmonary laboratory. The authority plans $596,000 in revenue bonds for a three phase expansion including a 20 bed addition, lab enlargement, and business office upgrades. Funds on deposit total $100,000 in CD at the same bank to back development phase financing. Upon sale, bond proceeds will repay the bank loan.
