Clyde Crawford Installed Gregg Shrine Club Proxy

Noble Clyde Crawford of Gladewater was installed as president of the Gregg County Shrine Club at an installation dinner in Longview. Officers and auxiliary officers were installed, with Bill Renfro, C. C. Stierwalt, A. K. Stubbs and other members named to leadership roles. Crawford urged sponsorship of a student nurse trainee and a film on the Shrine Childrens Burn Center in Galveston was shown.

Stickpin Return Ends The A M Endle Theft Tale

Three Henderson elementary girls in a vacant lot found a mud covered diamond and pearl stickpin linked to the A M Endle burglary. The pin belonged to Endle, who offered a cash reward for its return, and he was pleased to recover the heirloom.

N E Jackson Dies at 70 in Gladewater Rites Saturday

Neal E. Jackson 70 a Gladewater resident since 1914 died Wednesday night in a local hospital. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with Hayes Reneau officiating. Burial followed in Rosedale Cemetery. He was born February 14 1900 in Florence Texas and was a machinist welder. He served in the US Marines and belonged to N Main Church of Christ. Survived by Lena his wife two sisters Lola Jackson of New York and Thelma Hendricks of Durant Oklahoma two brothers Clyde Jackson Irving and James Lewis Jackson Fort Worth one niece and three nephews pallbearers listed.

Mrs Tuttle Publishes OByrne Family History

Mrs Tuttle authors a book titled The O Byrne Mill Digging for Facts and Fantasies presented to Gladewater Public Library by Colonel and Mrs F L Jones The history traces over a century from Ireland to Upshur County and Union Grove focusing on the O Byrne clan with a dedication to all O Byrne descendants.
