Death of W L Cheshire at 72 in Gladewater

W Leonard Cheshire Sr 72 of 510 Gay Avenue died Sunday in a local hospital. Funeral held Tuesday at 4 p.m. Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel Carthage. burial Old Tennessee Cemetery Panola County. Survived by wife Belvia two sons William Leonard Cheshire Jr Joseph Arthur Cheshire nine grandchildren three great grandchildren. siblings Allen and Carroll Cheshire.

Albert A Warren rites Sunday in Kilgore area

Albert A Warren 81 of Gay Avenue died Saturday after a lengthy illness. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Malcolm Stone Funeral Chapel with Rev Jim Elan officiating. Burial followed at Sladewater Memorial Park. Surviving relatives include two sons, three daughters and several grandchildren. Warren was a native Texan, lived in the Gladewater area 46 years, and retired from East Texas Salt Water Disposal Company. He was a Methodist and IOOF member.

New Texas Long Distance Rates Take Effect

General Telephone announces new intrastate long distance rates in Texas effective 12:01 a.m. Tuesday December 21. Southwestern Bell set most initial minute rates lower while higher charges apply to additional minutes and all operator assisted calls. Evening discount drops from 30 percent to 25 percent and affects Bell System and independent lines under one rate structure.
