Explo 72 drew over 100 000 attendees to Dallas this summer and produced a $119 989.62 increase in charter revenues, a 251 percent rise from June 1971, according to Transit General Manager Wilson Driggs. The event generated nearly $108 000 in charter revenues for the Dallas Transit System.
The Texas Insurance Advisory Association urged the State Board of Insurance to cut extended coverage rates by 17.7 percent and homeowners rates by 16.2 percent next year. Exceptions apply to residents of the 27 county Gulf Coast area and much of the Panhandle and South Plains.
Central Inland would see a 12.1 percent drop in extended coverage and 10.9 percent lower homeowners’ premiums while the Seacoast area faces a 17.5 percent rise in extended coverage and 8.3 percent higher homeowners’ rates. statewide fire-rate cuts total 7.7 percent, with estimated savings of 6 million for extended coverage and 9.8 million for homeowners in Central Inland. An Association spokesman noted 500 agents approved the plan but opposed standardizing commissions. The Board awaits direction on rate calculation.
