Carriage Association of America volunteers and founder in Texas
In 1960 a Long Island museum director formed the Carriage Association of America at Stony Brook, growing to about 1500 members including teens. East Texas member Sidney Latham, a retired Dallas attorney, restores and drives horse drawn carriages on 1000 plus acres at Sandyland Farm near Douglasville. He owns 26 restored and 11 unrestored carriages, drives in the Jefferson Pilgrimage and Cotton Bowl parades, and keeps a 1947 survey buggy and a King Ernst August chariot from the mid-1800s.
